In the heart of the lush valley of Rivière Pilote in southern Martinique, Maison La Mauny has been making Agricole Rums elaborated with pure sugarcane juice for over 250 years. Established by Count de Mauny in 1749, the La Mauny Estate is part of Martinique’s historical heritage and renowned for the beauty of its terroir and its warm climate.
True pioneer from the very start, Maison La Mauny combines know-how and creativity to develop new recipes that are always more attractive and bottles an elixir of conviviality, typical of Martinique.
Upon the initiative of its former Director Mr. Bourdillon, Maison La Mauny contributed to the recognition of the Martinican terroir and rum-making process so that it also acquired the AOC label, a true guarantee of quality and authenticity. In the past and nowadays, Maison La Mauny premium agricole rums have always been renowned for their quality and are awarded the most prestigious medals at International Rums Competitions.
Symbols of Martinique, Maison La Mauny rums are famed for their generosity, smoothness and exuberant style, embodied by Maison La Mauny icon “la Tête Marée”: the creole woman with the traditional madras headdress.
THE AROMATIC INTENSITY OF OUR WHITE RUMS
Exuberant and appealing, the whites convey powerful notes of flowers and fruit with expressive fresh sugarcane juice aromas. This unique style comes from a rigorous selection of our sugarcanes, crushed within 24 hours of their harvest, and a careful distillation that complies with the pure traditional method in Creole columns, among which one is copper.
THE SMOOTHNESS AND SUBTLETY OF OUR AMBER RUMS
Reduced slowly and progressively to 40% alcohol by volume, our amber rums are matured 12 months in oak tuns, according to the AOC Martinique standards. This enables them to develop a nice golden colour and fine woody notes while preserving the crisp taste of sugarcane juice Maison La Mauny rums, aged in oak, are luminous and hearty and remarkable for their delightful savours of spices and warm sugar.
THE WARMTH AND ELEGANCE OF OUR AGED RUMS
Our aged rums are matured for a minimum of 3 years and up to 20 years in oak casks of various origins: new French casks, former Cognac casks from France and former Bourbon casks from the US. Most of Maison La Mauny aged rums are made by blending various types to obtain the finest balance and enhanced aromatic richness.
